Global Sources chairman and CEO receives honorary doctorate for lifetime commitment in promoting international trade
Thunderbird presents award to Merle A. Hinrich during management school's April commencement
HONG KONG, May 17, 2010 - Global Sources' Chairman and CEO Merle A. Hinrich has received an honorary Doctor of International Law degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. The award was presented April 30, 2010, by Thunderbird President Ángel Cabrera during the school's graduation ceremony in Glendale, Arizona. Previous awardees include Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Vaclav Havel, the first president of the Czech Republic and Steve Forbes, chairman and CEO of Forbes.

A Class of 1965 alumnus of Thunderbird, one of the world's top schools of international business, Hinrich also delivered the commencement address. "I am very delighted to receive this great honor," he said to open his speech, adding that he was humbled by the distinguished list of previous honorees.

"They have accomplished so much and have contributed generously to their respective communities. I will certainly aspire to bring continued credit and honor to this legacy," Hinrich said.

Hinrich founded Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL) (http://www.globalsources.com) in 1970, and through perseverance and insight built it into Asia's leading business-to-business media company. His conviction remains that mutually beneficial trade between the East and the West drives global economic prosperity and can engender world peace. Today, Global Sources facilitates trade in the Greater China region of more than 4.5 million products between 253,000 suppliers and 888,000 active international buyers.
