Despite the financial crisis, international market demand for ‘green' products continues to spur growth in China's lighting and electrical export industry. According to Global Sources' China Sourcing Report: Lighting & Electrical, China suppliers remain optimistic, with the majority expecting sales growth of more than 10 percent in 2009.

Spenser Au, the Report Publisher, said that among surveyed China's lighting and electrical suppliers, 46% expect sales to increase by more than 20%; 38% project sales growth of 10% to 20%; 8% expect sales to increase by less than 10% and another 8% project flat or lower sales.

The Report also indicates that, due to lower component costs and price competition, 49% of the surveyed suppliers say they plan to decrease prices; 32% plan to keep prices steady while 19% plan to increase prices.

“Thanks to legislation favoring renewable energy and power-saving devices, China suppliers have been bucking the export downturn," said Spenser Au. But, with more suppliers focusing on producing eco-friendly products, buyers sourcing from China can expect to find a greater range of products at even lower prices than what they paid in 2008.

Based on China customs statistics, sales revenue for China's lighting and electrical industries. rose 34% year-on-year between July and November 2008.
