Below is a translated summary of an article about Global Sources.
International IC-China Conference & Exhibition Opens at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center
International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China), the only systems design event in mainland China, opened today at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. Mark A. Saunderson, President of Global Sources' Electronics Business Unit said that with the recent dramatic market changes, electronics manufacturers recognize there is no longer a place for low-price products. In order to survive and stand out from the crowd, suppliers should focus on quality and innovation. Saunderson commented that Mainland China's electronics exports may have slowed down from the double-digit growth all of us are used to, but they remain robust. Mainland China is the single largest source of manufactured electronics worldwide. It is an industry driven by both global and domestic demand. Saunderson added that with the continuous increase of manufacturing cost in China, cost cutting is no longer an effective way to maintain their competitiveness. In order to make price rise reasonable, suppliers are working on quality improvement, as well as brand establishment. According to Chief Executive China Magazine's survey on China enterprises' main strategies to counter the global financial crisis, 43% surveyed executives plan to concentrate on brand establishment, efficiency increase and quality improvement to survive. For the third year, IIC-China also presents Components Zone, mainland China's largest electronic components sourcing event. This year, IIC-China will expand to new locations including Xian, Wuhan and Dongguan, making it one of the most influential systems design events in mainland China.
