Global Sources plans to expand its exhibitions to support robust mainland China electronics industry growth. The company has decided to expand the scale of IIC-China after holding the show successfully for 12 years. The 2008 event will offer engineers a record-breaking 1,400 booths – up 34 percent from 2007. The first IIC-China in Chengdu will also take place this year - a significant addition to West China's electronics exhibition lineup. Next year, IIC-China will extend to Xi'an and Wuhan, bringing the total number of venues from four in 2008 to seven in 2009.

"We continue to expand IIC-China to more cities because of the robust growth of the electronics industry in mainland China," said Mark A. Saunderson, President of Global Sources' Electronics Business Unit. "Mainland China's electronics industry growth remains strong despite the US-led economic slowdown. Research firm, Euromonitor International forecasts consumption of high-street electronics to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 14%, reaching $151 billion in 2011 and iSuppli's IC Insights places mainland China's chip consumption at $100 billion by 2010."

International and domestic demand for new electronics products is feeding new and fast-growing industry hubs in mainland China like Wuhan and Xi’an. Wuhan's electronics industry alone grew 58 percent in 2007.
