Buyers with Sales of US$260 Billion to Meet Greater China Toy Suppliers at Largest Ever Private Sourcing Event
Carrefour, Sears and RadioShack Among Buyers Set to Participate in Global Sources' Exclusive Buyer-Meet-Supplier Event
HONG KONG, Jan. 19, 2007 – Global Sources (NASDAQ: GSOL) will hold its largest ever Private Sourcing Event in Shenzhen on Jan. 25. Buying organizations with annual sales of US$260 billion, including Carrefour, Sears and RadioShack, will meet privately with 35 suppliers from Greater China to source toys.

Global Sources Chairman and CEO, Merle A. Hinrichs, said: "Helping quality buyers quickly find the right Greater China suppliers is what our Private Sourcing Events are all about.

"For this event alone, the buyers we will introduce to pre-qualified suppliers have annual sales of more than US$260 billion. For most suppliers, meeting buyers the caliber of Carrefour, Sears and RadioShack is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"Private Sourcing Events are extremely valuable to our communities. These exclusive events are an important part of our complete services connecting global buyers with quality suppliers."

Sears Divisional Vice President, Randy Evans, said: "These events are quickly becoming a regular part of our Greater China sourcing program. They help us source more efficiently, saving time and reducing costs.

"Private Sourcing Events also increase the chance of a trading match since we're able to pre-select suppliers who come prepared with knowledge of our company and our specific needs."

Retailers participating in Global Sources' Private Sourcing Event include:

  • Carrefour – the second largest retailer in the world
  • KarstadtQuelle – Europe's largest department store and mail order group
  • Kmart (Australia) – one of Australia's largest discount chains
  • OfficeMax – the third largest office supply retailer in the US
  • Sears – the third largest retailer in the US
  • Staples – the world's leading supplier of office products
  • Target (Australia) – one of Australia's largest retailers
  • Woolworth's (Australia) – Australia's second largest supermarket chain

Buyers from Kesa Electricals, Tchibo and ThreeSixty Sourcing will also participate.

"Face-to-face meetings with buyers at this level are rare in our industry," said one participating supplier, Kuma Gu, General Manager of HK (Shenzhen) Industries Development. "We plan to take full advantage of this opportunity to enter new international markets and learn about the sourcing needs of big buyers."
